Joseph Hofer resides in Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada with his wife Kathryn and daughter Emme. As an award-winning industrial designer, he launched the design company, Hofer Studio, in 2015.
He approaches design projects with the user at the forefront, innovating the experience, and building with quality to celebrate and communicate a product's purpose and value. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, his foresight, emotional empathy, and commitment to excellence have influenced over ten BlackBerry handhelds designs, including the Bold series, the Q10 and Z10, and the Passport.
Hofer Studio collaborates with a number of entrepreneurial startups in the markets of technology and consumer goods. Recently, the studio won a European Product Design Award (Belgium) for the Pair Knife, a Good Design Award (US) for the Screw Cancer™ E1 Multi 8 screwdriver, and also designed the Wolf and Grizzly Grill that surpassed the set Kickstarter goal by over 220% and won a Radical By Design award at the Outdoor Retailer show in 2018 (US).
